Kaan Duzarat - Organic Intellectual
(Original & Jay Wave Remix)
Feedbacks & Reviews
IDJ Magazine Review by Jose Riera
"This new imprint from Romania starts off strongly with an original sounding production from Turkish producer Kaan Duzarat. His mix is fairly downtempo and is a musical breakbeat production full of warm sounds and with a tranquil vibe that makes as much sense at home as early on in a club. Romanian DJ / Producer Jay Wave does his thang on the flip, keeping the original's overall deep, warm sound but putting in four-four beats to drive proceedings along."

Kaan Duzarat - Organic Intellectual (ONLY RECORDS)
Fledgling Romanian label Only Records release their first single, and if
this one’s anything to go by they will certainly become one of the ones to
watch in future. First up is Kaan Duzarat, a young Turkish producer who is
quickly earning a reputation for his quality melodic progressive sound. So
it’s no surprise that ‘Organic Intellectual’ is a cool, melodic progressive
groove! Already getting support from the likes of John Digweed, this is
definitely one to look out for. Flip for a cool melodic breaks mix from
Romanian producer Jay Wave, definitely worth a listen but somehow lacking
the energy and impressive production that defines Kaan’s original mix.
Quality debut from Only Records.

"i think its ffffffffffff.. amazing will give it quite a few spins in the next coming weeks."
 Hernan Cattaneo, ARG:
"the original is very good!"
 Pole Folder, BE:
Great release. Both sides are made to be played :). I love particularly the Jay Wave remix but the 4/4 atmosphere of the original fits perfectly in my sets of the moment.
 Moshic, ISR:
the original is beauty!(god i know that track from somewhere)…but im sure and cant wait to hit the break mix....good work from the romanian guy...very pro and atmospheric... thats the way i like it! big 9!
 Thomas Penton, US:
Smooth & elegance, is what 'Organic Intellectual (original)' is about. A great tune to start or end off the night with. Pure Class! The Jay Wave Rmx is a breaks gem. Smooth as before but with more energy then the original. But never losing its taste of elegance. This would fit nicely in any prog break set.
 Spesh, US:
both tracks are very solid in the atmospheric department. dig the remix - it's got "pump"!
 Nicholas Bennison, US:
Both sides good quality and definitely the sound that is popular these days. Thanks!
 Shiloh, CA:
"This is a very nice release. The original is a nice track when it first starts off, but the breakdown really takes it to the next level. The Jay Wave remix progs it up a teeny bit and I love the laid back breaks, as it explores the emotional side of the original's melody a tad more. The remix will really work well with what we've been playing these days and will definitely get some play."
 Nosmo, Grayarea, US:
"I definitely prefer the breaks mix (which I believe is the Jay Wave Mix). Nice sub bass line and tight sounding beats in that one. The other mix was nice to listen to, but a bit too mellow for my tastes.
Simon Bell - FBI Radio, AU:
Just got this track in the mail and what a track it is!The original is my pick I will definitely will be playing this out heaps over the next few weeks in the clubs and on the radio show, it will be in my chart aswell. Im really impressed the first record ive gotten from you guys is this great. I think this will sell quite well to. The flip is also a good mix to it takes the beginning riff from the original and turns it into a solid breakbreat climber! awesome well done on this one!

 IVibes.Nu Review:
A new label, a new artist and an unknown remixer - it usually brings out interesting results, but does this record follow that trend?
Kaan Duzarat - Organic Intelluctual (Only Records)
This is the first release on Romanian based label Only Records, which distributed by the UK company called Mixturi, the man behind that distributor, also runs the highly touted CP Recordings. I don’t know much about this new label besides what I have already stated but I do know that some writers have told me that they should be one that I keep my eye on, but that remains to be seen if they can hold my interest. Kaan Duzarat is a new name to just about every single one of you, except if you are heavily involved in the Turkish music scene. He was born in Eskisehir, Turkey, 24 years ago and he has since started to gain more exposure. He works for some electronic station in Istanbul and his deejay gigs have become more frequent. So this is his first 12" release and also first release of Only records.
A1.Original Mix
Right off the start, you realize why some have predicted huge things for Mr.Duzarat because he starts the record off very slowly, then with tremendous precision, he throws in some creepy riffs. The song is more of what I am calling "smart progressive", these days, which basically means, it is well thought out and does not fall into the formulaic trap that is killing the scene. As the track picks up steam, it reminds you of Max Graham at times because of the fierce minimal energy it contains. It makes great use of a harmonic riff about halfway into it and it shows that some of the best records are coming out of countries that you don’t think have big dance scenes. I think it is a smart record and Kaan Duzarat’s style will take him far in the music industry. The only drawback is that it may be a little too original for some because they rather listen to formulaic stuff that is killing the scene. I love it, originality always gets high marks with me.
B1. Jay Wave Remix
Normally, I’m telling you all about an artist and some background information on the remixer but I don’t know much about Jay Wave, other than that he is from Romania and that he has done one or two other remixes. Here Jay Wave attempted to make an even more sexy version of Organic Intelluctual but I think it fails to reach that goal. He starts out in a slight tribal progressive direction. He tries to makes it a slow builder, which it does very well but it does not seem to grab my attention. He makes great use of percs with some great sound effects and the track is very unique but it lacks that little extra, what exactly, I cannot quite put my finger on it. Jay Wave is certainly talented, that is also apparent but it fails. I’m sure there will be people who think differently and I’m happy to hear your opinion on this record.
Conclusion:
Kaan Duzarat creates a superb original track that some progressive deejays will pick up because it sets the mood and will be used near the beginning of sets. The flipside does not wet my appetite and it certainly does not pick up interest. I seem to lose it about halfway into the remix but it is a decent effort for a new label and I’m looking forward to seeing what else they will put out because it shows you the more intelligent progressive sound that is coming out of Eastern Europe.
 Release Records, CAN:
Only Records drops it's first release with a brilliant proggy tech-house piece from Kaan Duzarat. Bouncy thanks to some shuffly percussion it rocks out nicely with moody chords and farty bassline. Jay Wave does nicely on the flip with a melodic breakbeat mix.

 Beatfactor.Net Review:
Born in Eskisehir, Turkey, Kaan Duzarat is a 24 years old talented producer. He began to gain some more experience last year, when he started to work for the electronic music radio station Dinamo 103.8, from Istanbul. In parallel, he didn’t neglect his dj activity, playing in lots of clubs from Turkey and UK. The "Organic Intellectual" 12inch is th upcoming release on Romanian label Only Records, which along with this release, also celebrates its debut. We wish them good luck and many other releases.
The Original Mix is on the A side, following to enjoy also on the flip a fresh and lovely remix from the Romanian producer Jay Wave. Therefore, the track starts slowly, with a coldish rhythm at the beginning but which gets warm during the play of the track. A few tribals confer a special effect, emphasizing the progressive rhythm. The synths flood into a place in order to give a profound and relaxing melodic line and sooner to brake into a wonderful break down, which simply amazes by its peaceful feeling. I always considered that break down and the part which follows next gives value to a progressive (but not only) track. I can strongly affirm that this track is certainly a precious track, that kind of melodic progressive which reminds me of so many other producers following this style. I won’t name them here, because it will take too much space. Back to the release, after this fabulous break down, the melodic line powerfully begins, forming little particles of pleasure vibes, which, connected between them, explode, and this will surely go to the desired effect of the producer. After a genially composed melodic line, the synths discretely get lost, remaining the calm and silence from the beginning, for a subtle final.
Jay Wave is a Romanian dj and producer who soon will catch up the third decade of his life. After playing various styles of music, from techno, trance, he reached progressive house too, when the public started to vibrate on this genre. The present remix impressed very much, coming from a valorous Romanian producer on the progressive and break beat scene. We enter from the beginning into a deep and emotional break beat atmosphere, very melodic and sensitive. The melodic line starts to take shape from the beginning too, and during the length it assimilates various synths and riffs. After two minutes or so, we meet the real rhythm of the track, a perfect kick of break beat and a profound bass line, which forms an unedited melody. A few synths which vertiginously penetrate the listener’s soul can be found also, trying the auditorium’s sensitivity. After an exceptional break down, continued by a kind of downtempo, the rhythm starts again, storing many synths and melodic lines. And all is normally now, the sounds being eliminated one by one, for an end which let us a sweet taste in the mouth.
I’m not ending before mentioning that this release was aired on John Digweed ‘s Kiss 100 June show, which is indeed an honor not only for the producer but also for the label itself. Expect to hear only good things in future from Kaan Duzarat, a producer who has all the chances to start a brilliant musical career.
 In The Mix.com.au Review:
This quality progressive release is the first work by Kaan Duzarat originating from Eskisehir, Turkey. Kaan is a classically trained musician in both guitar and piano originally involved with a high school rock band followed by an interest in electronic music during his teenage years. Abandoning his rock band, he started DJing at high school parties and whilst living in the UK for about a year playing clubs such as Opera House, Zoo and Cage. After expanding his taste for the dance scene in the UK he returned to Istanbul for his college education. Kaan also currently works for Istanbul's electronic music radio station, Dinamo 103.8. Dealing with production and programming at the station, he is getting ready to enter the electronic music industry as a producer.
The Original Mix kicks off slowly and the track is constructed with precision as each riff and pattern creeps into the mix. The track goes on to build some nice plucked melodies over the solid beats and deep bass. Most notable are the track long and almost minimal buildup and breakdowns which carry such suspense and energy; and the distinct style and original sound he has created with this tune.
The flipside contains the Jay Wave Remix of the tune which is a much slower and more ambient take on the original. Jay Wave is also a relatively new name originating from Romania. Scattered throughout though are some great fx and a rocking breakbeat amongst the trippy floating melodies and a dark subtle bass.
Overall this is an excellent release from the new Romanian based label, a new artist and an unknown remixer and is interesting and complex to say the least. If you like deep layered prog then this one should hit the spot. The track is full of amazing atmosphere and would fit perfectly towards the start of a progressive set. It is also excellent to see a slightly different yet high quality sound coming out of Eastern Europe through the new generation of producers.

Sound Revolt Review:
Don’t get fooled by the English-sounding name, ‘cause Only Records is a label based in Romania. I hope this single will be an alarm clock for Polish producers who should finally get a grip and start taking their job seriously. I’d like to congratulate the Romanians as "Organic Intellectual" is a quality vinyl that could have been successfully released on best British labels.
However Kaan Duzarat is yet another Turk on the music map. He works in Istanbul’s Dinamo 103.8 radio and is making his first official steps in the producer area. "Organic Intellectual" is a nice, gentle tune that fits in the current stream of melodic progressive. Seemingly the Original Mix lacks nothing but on the flip you can hear the magic squeezed out from Duzarat’s synths.
And the Romanian magician’s name is Jay Wave who came out from nowhere to instantly show his sharp claws. His breakbeat interpretation of "Organic Intellectual" is definitely more interesting and juicy. An additional synth line, lofty and tricky breakdown are those elements in the remix that make further listening to the Original Mix much harder.
Nevertheless, "Organic Intellectual" is a complete release. If you want some rest grab the original mix but if you need to see a roaring dancefloor Jay Wave will lead the way.
